STARSE SSLP Zonal Isolation Packer (SAS)
The zonal isolation packer assembly includes the SSLP isolation packer and SIS insert isolation nipple. The SSLP isolation packer consists of a packer mandrel, piston, cylinder sleeve, element stack, body lock mechanism, and upper/lower seal bores. Multiple packer can be set in a single trip. When combined with the matching SIS insert seal, it achieves zonal isolation functions for applications such as separated zone production, shale layer isolation, and water zone isolation.
After moving the service tool to the packer's upper/lower seal bores, pressure is applied inside the drill pipe to shear the piston setting pins. The piston moves upward to expand the packing elements into position, during which the body lock ring locks the cylinder sleeve and piston. For retrieval, pulling up the tubing string moves the mandrel upward, shearing the release pins to unlock the anti-backout ring. The elements then contract to complete retrieval.
